Automation Design Engineering

It is always crucial that everyone involved has the same concept of automation. Sounds simple but is often the most difficult thing. We have our methods for exactly that.

Markus Zotz, Head of Automation Design Engineering

The project strategy

We develop the project strategy from the automation concept, which contains as many aspects of the entire project process as possible, such as procurement strategy, a milestone plan and a test and qualification strategy.

The performance and the output

  • Automation concept

  • User requirement specifications

  • Risk analyses

  • EMCR
(electrical measurement, control and regulation technology)

  • Instrumentation

  • Procurement

  • Project management

The project phases

  • "... Strategy is a concept for achieving goals..."

Together with the stakeholder we clarify the goals of automation and digitization in the project and develop the automation concept as part of the overall strategy.

  • Concepts are developed into concrete designs and specifications. Project details such as schedules and milestone plans or procurement packages are worked out in detail.

  • In close coordination with the manufacturers, we ensure that the draft planning from the basic design leads to the detailed implementation planning. And that the individual packages from the various manufacturers become a perfectly functioning system.

  • During the implementation of the systems on the shop floor and test field of the manufacturers, we concentrate on coordination between the manufacturers and the other trades. Through the FAT we ensure that the quality and the result are right.

  • It seems as if everything must happen at the same time. We coordinate and manage the installation and commissioning of the many different automated systems with organizational skills, technical know-how and a lot of communication. "Orchestrating" (choreographing) describes it quite well.

  • During the entire project, relevant documents and evidence for the qualification and validation of the entire system are created in accordance with the qualification master plan. An important focus for us is computer system validation (CSV).

The common vision

We create a common vision that contains all the essential aspects of the automation concept. This vision accompanies us through all project phases and is continuously developed further. Different levels of detail are created for the various participants in the project. The vision is the common, constant basis for discussion throughout the entire project.
